The Anthropic TypeScript SDK v0.135.0 adds a new `speed` parameter (and `usage.speed`) to Messages, exposes `between_tools` thinking types in model capabilities, and surfaces a Console organization's usage-tier spend cap as a read-only spend limit. Also includes stream-handling fixes to avoid dropping unread streams and keep JSONL responses open while in use.

capability delta

An agent can now request a `speed` tier on Anthropic Messages calls, observe `usage.speed` in responses, and emit `between_tools` extended thinking between tool calls via the TypeScript SDK.

curator note

Minor-feature SDK bump: `speed` parameter and `between_tools` thinking are the agent-relevant additions; some models require a beta header to use `speed`.

// install
npm i @anthropic-ai/sdk@0.135.0
npm · @anthropic-ai/sdk @ 0.135.0
// example
typescript
import Anthropic from "@anthropic-ai/sdk";

const client = new Anthropic();

const msg = await client.messages.create({
  model: "claude-sonnet-4-5",
  max_tokens: 1024,
  // New in 0.135.0: request a speed tier (some models require a beta header)
  speed: "fast",
  messages: [{ role: "user", content: "Summarize the latest release notes." }],
});

console.log(msg.usage.speed); // new usage.speed field
console.log(msg.content);
