Vespper launches SOTA DOCX MCP for agent-driven Word editing
mcpVespper (YC F24) released a hosted MCP server that lets AI agents edit Microsoft Word (.docx) files as if they were HTML. The agent reads/searches/edits an HTML projection of the doc, and Vespper's fine-tuned 3-8B LoRA reconciler model maps HTML diffs back to OOXML in-place. Exposes just 3 tools (read, search, edit) and claims 3x faster, 2x cheaper, and more accurate than python-docx or Office CLI MCPs. Free tier: 500 edits/month.
An agent can now edit Word .docx files via 3 simple MCP tools (read/search/edit) using HTML find-and-replace, with a fine-tuned reconciler preserving OOXML fidelity — no need to learn python-docx or DOCX DSLs.
Launch HN with low score (6) but concrete technical detail: HTML projection + fine-tuned LoRA reconciler on 3-8B base. Cloud-hosted MCP with free tier, ZDR/self-host options. Genuinely new agent capability for a common pain point.
